The Opportunity
We're looking for a hands-on Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with enterprise clients, translating complex business challenges into practical technical solutions.
You'll combine software development, data engineering and client engagement, taking ownership of projects from initial discovery and data mapping through to implementation and deployment.
As the first FDE in Munich, you'll play a key role in establishing the company's presence in the region and delivering high-impact enterprise projects.
What You'll Be Doing
- Work directly with senior business stakeholders to understand challenges and design technical solutions.
- Independently build and deploy APIs, databases and supporting infrastructure.
- Develop data pipelines and integrate external data sources with internal enterprise systems.
- Work across platform and data engineering to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
- Lead technical delivery from discovery and data mapping through to deployment.
- Explain technical concepts and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Visit client sites to support data access, initial setup and pilot deployments.
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally 7+.
- Strong hands-on engineering skills, including the ability to independently build an API backed by a database.
- Experience with data pipelines, data engineering, platform engineering or distributed systems.
- At least 2 years of direct engagement with business stakeholders, including directors, VPs or C‑suite executives — with the confidence to explain technical solutions in business terms.
- Experience delivering at least one project within the insurance industry, with a basic understanding of underwriting, claims and policies in force.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex business challenges into technical solutions.
- Professional fluency in German and English.
- Based in the Munich metropolitan area and comfortable travelling to client sites when required.
Experience with data science or predictive modelling is beneficial but not essential. Previous experience with neuro-symbolic AI is a bonus.
