The Opportunity
Privatal is currently working exclusively and is retained by a private equity fund in their search of a new Head of M&A/Corporate Development professional for their buy-and-build strategy. The company has over 500M in revenues, a multi-sided organisation, and is now entering a new phase of growth to get beyond the 1bn revenue mark.
- Partner with senior leadership to shape and execute the M&A strategy in line with growth and platform objectives
- Proactively identify, screen and prioritise acquisition targets across relevant service lines and geographies, mainly in Europe for the time being but also outside of Europe can be considered.
- Originate opportunities through direct outreach, advisor networks and structured pipeline development
- Build and maintain a robust, high-quality deal funnel.
- Lead all stages of the transaction process from initial engagement through signing and completion
- Own commercial negotiations, valuation, deal structuring and execution strategy
- Coordinate and manage all work streams across financial, legal, tax, commercial and operational due diligence
- Prepare and present investment papers, valuation materials and recommendations to CEO/CFO and private equity fund.
- Support post-close handover into integration and contribute to value-creation initiatives alongside management team
Profile
- Several years of M&A experience with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end transactions
- Background in Private Equity, Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance or Transaction Services - ideally a mix of the above.
- Strong track record of independently running multiple deals in parallel but also working and building a team for further expansion.
- Experience in professional services, consultancy, IT services, software, business services, facility management, or other multi-side organisations is essential.
- Strong commercial judgement with proven negotiation capability
- Highly structured, detail-oriented and comfortable in fast-paced, high-responsibility environments
- Excellent financial, valuation and strategic analysis skills
- Hands-on, pragmatic and ownership-driven mindset
- Absolute discretion, integrity and professionalism — confidentiality is essential
This is an opportunity for someone to start in a role for a company that is serious in entering a strong buy-and-build strategy, with proven success from the investor in similar investments historically, but also to work in a challenging environment where the learning curve is going to be steep. Still, the output will be well rewarded in lessons, new learnings, and commercial aspects.
