Our client, a major global logistics business, is looking for a Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join their team at a large, highly automated air hub. You'll focus on troubleshooting and improving controls solutions for automated material handling equipment (MHE), including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, scales, HMI systems and control cabinets.
Your main goal will be to develop and put in place maintenance regimes that keep these systems reliable and compliant. You'll also manage vendor performance against contract terms and lead local initiatives to improve maintenance solutions.
Key Responsibilities

- Carry out weak-point analyses, develop concepts and implement measures to optimise conveyor and building technology processes
- Drive continuous improvement of MHE system availability and run internal training for the maintenance team
- Solve complex issues across controls, fieldbus and IT platforms
- Deliver technical and non-technical system training to different business groups
- Review contracts in a structured way to decide whether new or revised elements are needed to meet operational, cost or legal requirements, and coordinate the approval and rollout of agreed changes
- Research supplier capabilities and recommend viable alternatives to management
- Coordinate cross-functional projects to install, replace or upgrade equipment as part of a lifecycle strategy, including reviewing new predictive maintenance methods with a central maintenance department
- Control supplier costs in line with contract terms and company policies, checking that all work is justified and approved before payment
- Support budgeting with input on expected changes to maintenance contracts, and advise on capital replacement needed to keep MHE systems reliable
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, hold regular performance and compliance reviews, and secure commitment to any corrective actions
- Work closely with local management to set and prioritise maintenance solutions
- Collaborate with the Operations Technology team, controls specialists and mechanical maintenance specialists to solve interdisciplinary problems and make sure mechanical and control systems work together smoothly
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or automation technology, or a comparable qualification such as a German Meister in electrical engineering or automation technology
- Able to read and understand technical documents and wiring diagrams
- Experience with PLC-based production systems, including troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley and Siemens preferred)

- Working knowledge of warehouse control systems and telegrams
- Knowledge of machine safety regulations, safe working practices and the CE Machinery Directive
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex problems to teams across the business
- Fluent German and at least B2 English
- Available for a late shift one week in every four, Monday to Saturday (starting at 16:30), with regular day shifts the rest of the time
