The Role You will lead Probando through its next chapter of technological maturity, platform scaling, and product & services-driven value creation.
Must have
Hands-on Product & Engineering leadership.
Proven record in leading product strategy, roadmap development, and technical execution. You lead a small technical team as a player-coach: you personally review code, can work across the full stack (backend, frontend, and database) and are comfortable deploying and operating production systems yourself.
Expertise in building and evolving modern cloud platforms.
Architected modern platform ecosystems ground-up, implemented modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, IaC, rigorous testing gates, and production observability.
CI/CD & Quality Automation:
Architected and deployed automated CI/CD pipelines and testing gates, significantly accelerating release velocity while minimizing deployment risks.
Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC):
Standardized infrastructure provisioning through IaC, eliminating manual configuration drift and improving environment reproducibility.
Security and compliance leadership of a cloud-based web product that handles sensitive health data and real payment flows . Experience owning GDPR compliance for special-category (health) data, working within ISO 9001/27001 frameworks, running security incident response, and — critically — raising a team’s day-to-day security culture, not just its tooling.
Operational resilience as a mandate.
Experience removing single points of failure: shared deploy access, on-call rotations, documented runbooks and handovers. You measure success by whether the team can operate without any one individual, including yourself.
Architecture judgment on legacy systems.
You have led at least one modernize-vs-rebuild decision and can articulate when a rewrite is the wrong answer. You will own a significant platform‑evolution decision early in your tenure.
Process leadership with a light touch . Able to establish written decision‑making (tickets, ADRs, documentation) in a small, senior team with a strong verbal culture — without drowning it in process.
Strongly preferred
Payments experience.
Integration with payment service providers, reconciliation, idempotency, and correctness of money-moving code.
Languages.
Working proficiency in German alongside English — the team and our sites operate in both languages
Vienna-based preferred
— able to work on‑site with the team at our Vienna office.
Data-protection fluency.
Solid working knowledge of GDPR and EU data‑residency requirements, especially for health data.
AI-accelerated engineering.
You use AI coding agents and assistants in your own daily work and have rolled them out across a team — with the review gates, CI, and testing discipline that make them safe in a regulated domain.
Nice to have
Health-tech or clinical-trials domain experience (sites, sponsors, patient recruitment).
Marketing-technology and analytics literacy (web analytics, paid acquisition, attribution)
Your qualifications
Education:
Master degree in any of the following; Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems
Proven experience
: Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience
Compensation "The minimum salary for this position amounts to 85K EUR gross (based on full-time employment, 14 salaries per year) as per the collective bargaining agreement for employees of companies operating in the field of automated data processing and information technology services (\"Kollektivvertrag für Angestellte von Unternehmen im Bereich Dienstleistung in der automatischen Datenverarbeitung und Informationstechnik\"), with a willingness to offer a higher salary depending on qualifications and experience."
