The Simulation Infrastructure team is building the foundation for our highly integrated, simulation-driven approach to stellarator design. Our core data, compute, and analysis infrastructure enables research and development across the company. In this role, you will collaborate directly with fusion experts, engineers, and AI researchers to create tools that foster seamless teamwork. If you have strong software design skills, a focus on product quality, and a proactive mindset, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a future powered by fusion.
If you are:
- An experienced technical lead with a strong foundation in computer science, engineering or a related field;
- Experience leading end-to-end/full-stack system design, ideally within an environment supporting physics, engineering, or AI teams;
- Proficient in at least two of Python, C++, or TypeScript;
- A skilled communicator of technical concepts, including through discussions, whiteboard sessions, and written documentation;
- Enthusiastic about high quality tooling and enhancing developer experience;
- Driven to solve complex problems with simple solutions and a desire to contribute to clean energy;
You will help us with:
- Understanding the objectives and challenges of our research and design teams, leading the development of the infrastructure and tools that support our simulation and data-driven approach;
- Contributing and reviewing code across our full stack from the core data infrastructure to large scale simulation pipelines;
- Proactively enhancing our teams’ abilities to collaborate with simulation by leading the integration and adoption of analysis and visualization tools;
- Helping to define and implement cross-org software engineering best practices, enabled by great tooling;
- Mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
