Our concept, built upon the W7-X stellarator and the latest advances in technology, paves the way for commercially viable fusion power plants. Our work in stellarator optimization and high-temperature superconducting magnets supports new high-performance design points. We’re building a team of dedicated and passionate people who come together to transform technology in the world.

Why Join Proxima Fusion

  • You will work on some of the most complex tech challenges to bring abundant, safe, clean energy to the world
  • You will learn from an exceptional selection of accomplished and driven individuals
  • You can do your life’s best work and enjoy the journey
  • You will show that big things are possible in Europe when you assemble the best talent

Your Impact

As an FEA analyst, you will significantly contribute to the mechanical design of different subsystems. You will work with mechanical designers to iterate on concepts and achieve the target level of performance. Proxima Fusion uses an in-house, simulation-driven framework to assess feasibility and complexity of integrated machine concepts. You will join a motivated team of engineers using various numerical methods for different physics to optimize the machine, with a primary focus on structural and thermal FEA.

What You Will Do

  • Work with the material engineering team to identify gaps in the cryogenic material database for FEA simulations and contribute to developing characterization of novel manufacturing methods.
  • Propose 1D/2D models and analyses to efficiently capture key behavior and inform large-scale optimization.
  • Perform full 3D analyses on detailed designs to evaluate structural and thermal attributes in preparation for final design reviews.
  • Develop and implement best practices, workflows and overall modelling strategy.

Who You Are

  • A high performer who loves challenges, is not afraid to experiment, take risks and learn from mistakes.
  • An experienced FEA analyst with high attention to detail and proficiency in a commercial structural/thermal FEA package.
  • Knowledgeable about fundamental FEA concepts (e.g., nonlinear materials, solver convergence, contact modelling).
  • Highly analytical with the ability to carry out sensitivity analysis and implement reduced order models.
  • A strong collaborator with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, proactive in addressing engineering challenges.
  • Experience with Python and automation is a bonus.

Interview Process

  • Recruiter Interview (30-60 min)
  • Technical Screening (30 min)
  • Technical Panel (3x60 min)
