Take ownership. Lead performance. Shape the future of critical digital infrastructure.

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Data Centre Manager to take full operational and commercial responsibility for a major data centre facility in Frankfurt, working within the estate of one of the world's largest online digital technology businesses.

This is a senior management position offering the opportunity to lead an established facilities management and engineering operation, taking responsibility for the people, performance, financial management and technical delivery of a mission‑critical data centre environment.

The facility operates 24/7, supporting critical digital infrastructure, but this is a Monday‑to‑Friday management position with no shift requirement or formal on‑call commitment.

You will be the principal operational interface between the customer, engineering teams, facilities management personnel and specialist service partners, ensuring the highest standards of operational resilience, service delivery and customer satisfaction.

The Opportunity

Taking complete ownership of the site, you will lead the day‑to‑day operation while developing the longer‑term operational and commercial strategy.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overall Site Leadership: Take full management responsibility for the data centre operation, ensuring effective delivery of all facilities management, engineering and maintenance services.
  • Engineering & Maintenance: Lead the technical maintenance strategy, ensuring critical M&E infrastructure, building systems and supporting services remain fully operational, compliant and resilient.
  • People Management: Lead, develop and motivate a multidisciplinary team, creating a strong performance culture with clear accountability and operational standards.
  • Commercial & Financial Management: Hold full P&L responsibility for a substantial operational budget, including OPEX, CAPEX, maintenance expenditure, subcontractor costs and workforce management.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Act as the senior point of contact for the customer, developing a trusted relationship and ensuring expectations, service levels and operational objectives are consistently achieved.
  • Contract & Service Delivery: Manage service performance against contractual obligations, SLAs and KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Supplier & Contractor Management: Oversee specialist subcontractors and service partners, ensuring quality, value for money, compliance and consistent delivery.
  • QHSE & Compliance: Maintain responsibility for health and safety, environmental management, quality assurance and statutory compliance across the facility.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance operational processes, introduce efficiencies and develop the service offering in line with the customer's evolving requirements.
  • Strategic Development: Support the ongoing development of the site, identifying opportunities for additional services, infrastructure improvements and long‑term operational growth.

The Person

This opportunity is ideally suited to an established Data Centre Manager, Data Centre Contracts Manager or Senior Facilities Manager who understands the demands of managing critical infrastructure and has the commercial and leadership capability to take ownership of a complex operation.

You will ideally demonstrate:

  • A proven track record managing a data centre facility or large‑scale critical infrastructure operation.
  • Strong experience leading engineering, facilities management and maintenance teams.
  • Previous P&L ownership and responsibility for substantial operational budgets.
  • A sound understanding of critical M&E infrastructure, preventative maintenance and operational resilience.
  • Experience managing outsourced services, contractors and complex service delivery agreements.
  • The ability to manage senior customer relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong commercial awareness, financial management and contractual understanding.
  • Experience driving operational improvements, team development and service excellence.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken.

The Package & Opportunity

The successful candidate can expect an attractive package and the opportunity to take on a senior leadership position within a highly prestigious digital infrastructure environment.

  • Base salary of up to €100,000, dependent on experience.
  • 10% annual performance bonus.
  • Company car, including private use.
  • Annual merit salary review, typically 2–4%.
  • 30 days annual holiday.
  • International career development opportunities.
  • Access to industry‑recognised training and professional qualifications.
  • A high degree of autonomy and responsibility within an established operation.
  • Monday‑to‑Friday management position – no shift working or formal on‑call requirement.
