We are currently seeking a full-time Machine Learning Engineer to help develop, adapt, and evaluate ML models through systematic testing and internal experimentation. This role includes structured comparisons between model variants, analysis of training outcomes, and decision-making on deployment readiness for lab testing. Experience with real-time audio processing is desirable but not essential.
Residency in Germany is required due to regulations set by the funding body.
You will collaborate with a specialized team consisting of perceptual scientists, a mobile-focused ML engineer, a PhD-level AI-Audio Researcher, and our AI-Audio advisor (Prof. Simon King, University of Edinburgh). Our research-driven environment emphasizes pragmatic technical decisions, open dialogue about ideas and challenges, and offers a high degree of autonomy and impact.
Responsibilities
- Selecting and adapting ML models to fit the constraints and goals of our audio-based neuroadaptive system
- Making architectural changes to models with support from a senior advisor (ML professor)
- Iteratively training and refining models based on experimental internal evaluations and user test results
- Developing small-scale apps and scripts for lab testing (audio pipeline, basic UI, integration with ML inference)
- Collaborating with a mobile-focused ML researcher to ensure smooth handoff to embedded systems
- Sharing insights and progress openly to share the excitement and support collaborative decision-making
Qualifications
- Essential : Able to demonstrate strong PyTorch skills, including the ability to understand and modify model architectures, train models, and debug training failures
- Essential : Proficiency in Python for both ML and general-purpose programming (e.g., UI integration, data management)
- Essential : Able to work independently on technical problems and iterating based on test outcomes
- Desirable : Some knowledge of audio processing or speech processing
- Desirable : Ability to deal with real-time audio processing and streaming, ideally across multiple languages (Python, C, C++)
What we offer
- Innovative projects : Participate in expanding the state of the art in using machine learning to solve previously intractable problems
- Impactful work : Contribute to improving the quality of life for neurodivergent individuals
- Collaborative culture : Join an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, machine learning researchers, and software engineers where ideas are exchanged openly and your expertise is valued
How to Apply
Please send your resume / CV and a brief cover letter to (emailprotected) . If available, include references to relevant projects or contributions (e.g., open-source repositories, research publications) that demonstrate your expertise. We look forward to your application! Tips : Provide a summary of the role, what success in the position looks like, and how this role fits into the organization overall.
About PsyAIHance GmbH
At PsyAIHance, we are a research-driven health-tech startup committed to enhancing the lives of neurodivergent individuals. Leveraging groundbreaking AI technology, we develop proprietary wearable devices designed to target atypical neurological pathways, currently focusing on innovative solutions for speech disabilities and ADHD.
Backed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), our interdisciplinary team collaborates closely with world-leading experts in perceptual sciences (Prof. Claus-Christian Carbon, University of Bamberg), spatial audio (advisor : Hans Martin Buff, Grammy Award winner 2025), and machine learning for audio (advisor : Prof. Simon King, University of Edinburgh). In partnership with academic research institutions (including the AI Lab, University of Magdeburg) and major healthcare providers (e.g., Barmer), we aim to bridge critical therapeutic gaps with clinically validated, sensory-based interventions.
We invite passionate individuals to join our growing team and contribute to our ambitious goal : profoundly impacting over one billion lives worldwide. Be part of a pioneering force developing transformative sensory technologies for a more inclusive and empowered future.
