We're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to own customer deployments end-to-end at industrial, critical infrastructure, and defense sites. You'll connect core engineering with real-world implementation, taking technical pilots from first install through to production contracts. The work is hands-on across the whole stack: edge hardware, networking, drivers, AI models, and configuration, often on-premise and in demanding environments. You'll also be the customer's main technical contact, so you'll switch between debugging a camera integration and walking stakeholders through progress and next steps. It suits an engineer with real technical depth, strong people skills, and an ownership mindset who enjoys the pace of an early-stage startup. The role is based in Zürich, with about 50% travel to customer sites across Switzerland and Europe.

About the project
The company is a well-funded, pre-seed startup building an intelligent software orchestration layer for physical security and autonomous robotics. Its platform brings together cameras, sensors, video management systems, and robots into a single system that runs on edge hardware at customer sites. Customers include industrial operators, critical infrastructure providers, and defense organizations, where reliability and security really matter. The team is small and works in a zero-to-one environment, so each hire has a direct effect on the product and on how customers experience it. Converting pilots into long-term production deployments is a core priority, and this role sits right at the center of that effort. This is a chance to join early and help shape how autonomous security systems are deployed in the field.
You have
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing on-premise infrastructure or edge hardware (e.g., NVIDIA DGX, Jetson)
- A proven track record of integrating complex hardware and software systems such as cameras, sensors, VMS platforms, or robotics
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role (Forward Deployed Engineer, Field Engineer, Solutions Architect, Deployment/Integration Engineer) owning deployments end-to-end
- Strong skills in Python, Linux, Docker, and networking; exposure to computer vision is a plus
- The ability to debug across the full stack: hardware, network, drivers, models, and configuration
- High EQ and confidence managing customer relationships, including under pressure when a pilot isn't going to plan
- An ownership mindset and comfort working in a scrappy, fast-moving startup environment
- Willingness to be based in Zürich and travel around 50% of the time to customer sites in Switzerland and Europe
- Citizenship of a NATO or NATO-partner country (required for access to defense and military client sites)
- Nice to have: German language skills
- Nice to have: experience with defense, government (B2G), or critical infrastructure clients
- Nice to have: previous experience in an early-stage (zero-to-one) startup
- Nice to have: BSc or MSc in a technical field, ideally from a top university (more junior profiles with strong fundamentals will also be considered)
What to do
- Own customer deployments end-to-end at industrial, critical infrastructure, and military sites, from planning and installation to go-live
- Install, configure, and maintain on-premise edge hardware such as NVIDIA DGX and Jetson devices
- Integrate cameras, sensors, VMS platforms, and robotic systems with the company's orchestration software, including building custom integrations where none exist
- Troubleshoot issues across hardware, networking, drivers, models, and configuration, both on-site and remotely
- Act as the main technical point of contact for customers, managing expectations and keeping stakeholders informed
- Drive technical pilots to success and help convert them into production contracts
- Feed field insights and customer requirements back to the core engineering and product teams
- Document deployment processes and help build repeatable playbooks as the company scales
- Travel regularly (around 50%) to customer sites across Switzerland and Europe
