Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Cloud Solution Architect specializing in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure to drive enterprise cloud adoption, platform engineering, migration, and modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate will combine strong architectural expertise with practical engineering skills, translating business requirements into secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions. This role involves working onsite with enterprise clients 2–3 days per week, designing architectures, building prototypes, and implementing cloud environments.

The successful candidate will also evaluate emerging technologies and AI-driven tools to accelerate cloud migration, automate infrastructure management, and improve platform operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Migration and Platform Planning: Assess legacy workloads, design secure enterprise cloud landing zones, and develop migration strategies for complex environments.
• Hands-on Engineering and Automation: Build, configure, and automate cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), translating architectural designs into working environments.
• Cloud Modernization: Lead cloud transformation initiatives involving serverless architectures, containerized environments, and cost-optimization strategies.
• AI Tool Evaluation: Identify and evaluate emerging AI-powered tools to improve platform management, accelerate migration assessments, and automate repetitive infrastructure tasks.
• Client Advisory and Mentorship: Work closely with client stakeholders, provide technical guidance, maintain comprehensive documentation, and support knowledge transfer to engineering teams.
• Security and Risk Management: Identify potential architectural, infrastructure, and security risks while ensuring reliability, scalability, and business continuity.

Required Technical Skills

1. Cloud and Platform Engineering

• Strong enterprise cloud architecture experience in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience designing and implementing secure enterprise landing zones.
• Knowledge of Account Factory for Terraform (AFT) or similar multi-account automation frameworks.
• Proven experience planning and executing enterprise cloud migrations, including on-premises-to-cloud and Citrix-to-cloud transitions.
• Advanced Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills using HashiCorp Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and/or Azure Resource Manager (ARM).
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, and multicast networking.

2. Cloud Modernization and DevOps

• Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Amazon EKS and Azure AKS.
• Experience designing and implementing serverless architectures.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, or Go.
• Ability to integrate cloud APIs and develop custom infrastructure automation solutions.
• Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery (DR) solutions for enterprise environments.
• Understanding of cloud security, infrastructure reliability, and cost optimization.

3. AI and Emerging Technologies

• Interest in emerging AI-driven infrastructure and platform engineering tools.
• Ability to evaluate technologies that improve migration discovery, operational efficiency, and infrastructure automation.
• Willingness to experiment with modern tools and translate promising technologies into practical solutions.

Key Requirements at a Glance

• Strong AWS and/or Azure architecture expertise.
• Enterprise cloud migration and landing zone implementation experience.
• Terraform and other IaC automation tools.
• Hands-on EKS/AKS, serverless, and cloud networking experience.
• Python, Bash, or Go scripting skills.
• Disaster recovery and cloud security knowledge.
• Fluent working proficiency in German and English.
• Availability to work onsite with clients 2–3 days per week in Germany.
