Mission of the role
Own the structural analysis backbone of our rocket — load definition, lay-up, FEA, margins — and drive every iteration to a verified result.
What you'll do
- Define load cases, boundary conditions, and acceptance criteria for primary and secondary structures.
- Build, run, and document analytical and FEA models of composite and metallic components.
- Evaluate structural margins and failure modes; sign off on analyses that release hardware to manufacturing and test.
- Develop and maintain design methods and verification logic for the department.
- Close the loop with test data and mentor others on sizing and verification rigor.
You bring
- MSc in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of structural analysis on aerospace, motorsport, or pressure-vessel hardware (strong student team experience counts).
- Deep FEA expertise including composite modeling and failure criteria.
- Strong understanding of laminate theory, classical structural mechanics, and verification practice.
- Fluent in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with filament-wound pressure vessels or COPVs.
- Python scripting for FEA pre/post or analysis automation.
- Prior work in a launch-vehicle or rocket-engine structures team.
- Working proficiency in German.
