As a specialized partner for the modernization, overhaul, and efficiency improvement of large hydropower plants, the company combines the agility, short decision‑making processes, and team spirit of a medium‑sized company (approx. 250 employees) with the economic stability and innovative strength of a global corporation at its Swiss locations.
Their mission In this position, you are the technical mastermind behind the hydraulic integrity and transient system stability of the plants. Through your calculations and simulations, you prevent pressure surges, ensure grid integration, and guarantee that large turbines can be connected to the grid flawlessly and safely, even after complex modifications. Your impact: You secure the Swiss and international energy supply for the coming decades.
Your responsibilities
Hydraulic design:
They handle the
hydraulic design and geometric dimensioning
(G&D) of water
turbines
for demanding conversion and new plant projects.
Transient simulation:
They perform complex
transient system analyses
and pressure surge
calculations
to guarantee the mechanical and hydraulic safety of the overall system.
Grid integration:
Precise stability analyses ensure that the systems are perfectly and reliably integrated into the
power grids.
Feasibility studies:
They develop innovative project designs and potential studies within the framework of
power plant modernizations.
Interface expertise:
You provide specialist advice to the sales, project management and commissioning departments at the national and international level.
Method development:
They continuously develop the internal software tools and calculation methods for system analysis.
Your profile
Education:
Completed studies as a
mechanical engineer (FH / ETH / TU)
with specialization in fluid mechanics, hydraulics or a comparable field.
Technical expertise (must‑have):
Sound knowledge in the field of hydraulic machines (preferably large turbines) and the system design of hydropower plants.
Simulation & Analysis (Must‑Have):
Practical experience with transient system analyses and calculations in the field of fluid transients.
Languages (must‑have):
Fluent German
(at least C1 level for internal and external project coordination) and good English skills (B2).
Personality:
Analytical acumen, enjoyment of interdisciplinary issues and a strong customer and service orientation.
The offer
Meaningfulness:
