Category Manager (CAPEX) - CSA (Civil, Structural & Buildings Interior works)

For our client, a leading global biotechnology and biopharmaceutical manufacturing company, we are looking for an experienced Category Manager (CAPEX) - CSA (Civil, Structural & Buildings Interior works)

Canton of Valais | on site | 12 months -with potential extension

  • Start: September 2026 (subject to availability)
  • End: (with potential extension)
  • Location : Visp, (Onsite).

Role Purpose

Lead the development and execution of category strategies for Civil, CSA (Civil, Structural & Buildings Interior works) packages within CAPEX projects. Ensure alignment between engineering requirements, project execution needs and supply market capabilities to deliver safe, compliant, cost-competitive and schedule-driven solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Define and deploy category strategy for CSA (civil works, structural steel, buildings)
  • Lead sourcing, tendering and supplier selection for CSA packages
  • Drive commercial negotiations including contracts, frameworks and pricing structures
  • Partner with Engineering, Construction and Project teams to ensure early procurement involvement
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and contractor performance
  • Drive cost optimization, benchmarking and value engineering across projects
  • Ensure risk management for construction activities (schedule, cost, HSE and supply risk)
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, EHS and construction standards
  • Translate category strategies into project-specific sourcing and execution plans
  • Monitor contractor performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives

Profile / Experience

  • 10-15 years experience in Procurement, Category Management or Construction sourcing
  • Strong experience in pharmaceutical / life sciences CAPEX projects
  • Proven experience in CSA / construction sourcing
  • Strong track record in complex negotiations and contract management
  • Experience in large CAPEX projects (greenfield / brownfield)
  • Solid understanding of construction execution, engineering and project lifecycle
  • Education: Degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Construction) or Business. Technical background strongly preferred.
