Principal Engineer - Platform in München

Position Summary

As Principal Engineer – Platform at realworld one, you will play a central role in building a new category around one of the largest unmet opportunities in industrial enterprises: execution performance.

While organizations invest billions in systems that manage quality, operations, service, and business performance, no system today is designed to measure, improve, and manage execution itself. As Principal Engineer, you will be one of the key technical leaders shaping the next generation of our platform, with significant influence on its architecture and evolution across platform, data, and AI. The role combines Principal-level technical ownership with deep hands-on engineering.

This role is designed for an ambitious, deeply technical engineer who wants to solve complex problems, raise the engineering bar, and have a defining impact on both the technology and the category we are building.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for our C#/.NET backend and platform services, including data persistence, caching, and deployment on Microsoft Azure.
• Design and build data streaming systems for our event-driven execution performance platform, including product analytics, visualization, and business intelligence.
• Establish and embed effective AI-assisted engineering workflows across the engineering team.
• Ensure platform services integrate seamlessly with our Unreal Engine development SDK.
• Partner with the VP Engineering and teams across the company to translate product, client, and business needs into scalable platform capabilities.
• Mentor engineers, provide technical direction, support their development, and raise the overall engineering bar.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in C# and .NET, with a track record of building production-grade backend and platform systems.
• High ownership and technical ambition, with a track record of driving complex initiatives to completion and maintaining a high engineering bar.
• Proven architectural judgment while remaining deeply hands-on in the design and implementation of complex software systems.
• Strong understanding of data persistence, caching architectures, and cloud-native development on Microsoft Azure.
• Extensive experience with event-driven data systems, data warehouses, business intelligence systems, event streaming solutions, and related platform tools.
• Practical experience with AI-enabled software development tools and systems, combined with the ambition to apply modern AI techniques in both day-to-day development and product integrations.
• Experience integrating backend or platform services with Unreal Engine or similar real-time 3D applications is a plus.
• Rust experience is a plus; willingness to learn and work with Rust is important for future platform and systems development.
