What you will do at reisetopia
As Engineering Lead (m/f/x), you will take on a central role in defining the technological direction and strategy, ensuring the scalability, security and reliability of our digital products. You will lead and mentor a top-notch engineering team, foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, and drive the development of solutions that directly contribute to the growth and success of our business. By aligning technology with business objectives, you will establish robust systems and processes while empowering your team to deliver outstanding user experiences and set high standards of engineering excellence.
Your main areas of responsibility will include:
- You oversee all projects & tickets together with the Engineering Manager to predict approximate execution timelines, matching actual timelines
- You own product delivery and therefore, you are building efficient, scalable processes on how engineering work gets done together with our product team
- You are responsible for hiring new developers, assessing current capacities and proactively suggesting additions for the team, keeping budgets in mind
- You conduct yearly goal setting, feedback & result meetings with selected senior employees to fuel their development
- You contribute actively to the company’s strategic development as part of the management team
- You own the communication with all stakeholders, including our product lead, and make sure that priorities are aligned
- You keep up with industry trends, encourage innovation, and create opportunities for the engineering team to grow and develop their skills
- You communicate company and project goals to engineering team
You will focus with the following technical priorities & objectives:
- Technical enhancement and scalable expansion of your suitespot hotel search
- Focus on improving load times for both reisetopia website and the suitespot hotel search
- Development and expansion of our financial comparison tools as well as new technical solutions
What qualifications we expect from you
Considering the job as a Engineering Lead (m/f/x) we are explicitly looking for someone, who is fully committed from the first day on and who is passionate about leading our team and implementing our tech projects.
Therefore, we require the following qualifications:
- 7+ years of professional experience in full-stack development and a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong communication skills and proven team leadership capabilities
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Excellent & proven problem-solving skills
- Experience with the following technologies
- Strong understanding of modern TypeScript programming
- Experience in the frontend libraries React and Redux (or similar)
- Experience in backend frameworks like Express
- Knowledge using databases like MongoDB and Postgres
- Knowledge using testing tools like Jest and Playwright, Selenium or Cypress
- Knowledge in UI/UX
- Knowledge in Next.js and different rendering strategies
- Ideally experience in WordPress development (plugins and themes)
- Knowledge using serverless functions like AWS Lambda
- Knowledge using DevOps tools like GitHub Actions, Ansible, Jenkins and/or Docker
- Extensive experience managing complex projects and implementing process optimizations with measurable impact
- In-depth experience in creating and managing a scalable technical architecture
- Experience in page speed optimization and SEO optimization are a plus
- Ideally, experience working in a startup, especially in an ever evolving agile team
- Fluency in English – German language skills are a plus
