Research Associate/PhD Student Position: Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) invites applications for a part-time Research Associate/PhD Student position in the research cluster “CytoTransport – Mechanisms and Modulation of Cellular Transport Processes.” This position, starting from 01.04.2024, will focus on the physiology of transporters of the Solute Carrier SLC Family. The research, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), combines expertise in biomedicine, computational modeling, structural biology, chemistry, and materials science.

Scholarship Description: The Research Associate/PhD Student will work on the physiology of transporters of the Solute Carrier SLC Family. Responsibilities include research and development within the DFG-funded research cluster “CytoTransport,” presenting research results at conferences, publishing in scientific journals, and supporting student supervision within the cluster. The position offers a unique opportunity for scientific development, including the possibility of pursuing a doctorate via the Promotionskolleg NRW.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A degree in natural sciences (Diploma/Master’s) in a life sciences subject (e.g., biology or biomedicine).
  • Specialist knowledge of human biology and cell physiology, particularly membrane physiology.
  • Experience in molecular biological methods, working with cell cultures, and preferably in immunohistology and/or electrophysiological techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, as well as language proficiency in German and English (comparable to B2 level).
