The Technical Concept Developer (m/f/d) drives the technical development of product concepts from initial ideation through the individual project milestone. This involves developing concepts in both CAD and physical forms, with a primary focus on the coordination and technical feasibility of mechanical elements. The role also encompasses managing all related CAD and PDM processes, ensuring robust data management, and executing a seamless handover of Concept CAD to Technical Design. A key aspect of this role is providing direct CAD support to the Design Operations Coordinator, particularly in finding mechanical solutions, and supporting the Innovation team with CAD and concepting efforts. This is a permanent full time position, based in our Headquarter in Cologne, Germany. This Position will report to the Design Operations Manager.

Job Responsibilities

• Concept Development: Develop and refine product concepts using CAD and physical models, ensuring coordination and integration of all mechanical components
• Technical Feasibility & Validation: Conduct technical feasibility studies, provide virtual and physical prototypes, and perform analyses to validate concept viability and mitigate risks
• CAD & PDM Management: Execute all CAD operations for concept development, maintaining data integrity and adherence to best practices within the PDM system
• Design Operations Support: Provide specialized CAD support to the Design Operations Coordinator, focusing on addressing mechanical challenges and exploring solutions for concept realization
• Innovation Team Collaboration: Offer CAD and concepting support to the Innovation team, contributing to early-stage ideation and technical exploration
• Concept Handover: Lead the structured handover of validated Concept CAD data, including documentation and key technical decisions to the Technical Design team

Profile

• At least 3 years of professional experience in 3D CAD modelling, with strong proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or comparable tools, as well as experience with PDM systems
• Strong expertise in mechanical design and component integration, combined with a solution-oriented approach to complex technical challenges
• Hands-on experience in prototyping, technical analysis, and assessing the feasibility and functionality of product concepts
• Good understanding of different materials and manufacturing processes (plastics, metals, etc.)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Design, Innovation, and other technical teams
• Structured and independent way of working, with the ability to manage multiple development topics and priorities in a dynamic environment
• Fluency in English is required, German language skills are beneficial
