About the Role:
We are currently looking for multiple student analysts / data scientists to join our growing energy analytics team in Karlsruhe or Düsseldorf (Germany) or London (United Kingdom). During your time with us, you will help us shape our European power, hydrogen, gas, and carbon analytics and develop insight into the European energy commodity markets. As a student at ICIS, you will work on your own project, develop your own ideas, and contribute significantly to our products. You will work together with our experienced analyst team to receive support and have challenging discussions about your project and analysis.
We offer our students a high degree of flexibility related to your university schedule – you can organize your working hours independently.
Depending on your interests, you can choose a focus area:
- Supporting our Gas and LNG trading analysis and modelling proposition
- Working on our Energy Analytics data infrastructure to support forecasting models
- Our upcoming renewable biogas / biomethane modelling and project analysis.
On top, we will select your individual project based on your skills and interests. This could be, for example, the automatic data extraction using NLP (natural language processing) for LNG vessel tracking or modelling the impact of heating sector policies.
Responsibilities:
- Development of new tools, features, and later also models, using state-of-the-art data science methods (also using AI if needed)
- Understanding the wider energy complex consisting of power, gas, carbon, coal, hydrogen, and ammonia markets
- Supporting the analyst team in day-to-day business, analyzing the market, running the fundamental model, operations
- Implementation of model results on our client-facing EU analytics portal
Key Skills:
- Affinity and basic understanding of energy markets
- Preferably some coding skills in Python, C++, Java, GAMS, HTML, SQL, etc.
- Analytical mindset, critical thinking, and solid numerical ability
- High level of interest in learning new modelling techniques
- Good communication skills in English as you will work in an international environment
- To apply for this role, you need to be enrolled at a top 10 university in Germany
