Overview
In this role you bridge technical needs and procurement for RIVR’s Zürich hardware team. You own complex robot component sourcing, from PCBs to custom assemblies, managing six-figure expenditures. You will secure on-time, on-budget delivery while engineers stay focused on innovation. You collaborate across functions to professionalize supply chain processes and mitigate material risks. This is a high-impact, hands-on role in a fast-growing robotics startup within a global tech group.
Verantwortungsbereiche
- Act as primary supplier liaison, handling pricing, quality issues, lead times, and contract terms
- Independently manage purchasing for robot-specific commodities (PCBs, custom cables, metallic and non-metallic components)
- Lead material tracking modernization toward ERP-ready workflows
- Collaborate with CTO in Zürich and Head of Supply Chain in Shanghai to translate engineering needs into production plans
- Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Support make vs. buy decisions and provide cost justifications for high-value orders
- Oversee hardware transition from prototype to volume production via initial vendor reviews
- Ensure procured parts meet durability, performance, and safety standards
- Communicate findings and propose hardware spec improvements to non-technical partners
- Optimize validation and test processes for incoming hardware
- Track supplier delivery status and maintain supplier relationships across Europe, China, and the USA
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Proven experience in technical procurement, buying, or supply chain management in a hardware-centric industry
- Track record of managing and negotiating substantial purchase orders and vendor contracts
- Ability to read technical drawings and engineering specifications for mechanical and electrical components
- Bias for action with ability to lead in evolving process environments
- Capability to make hardware design trade-offs (make vs. buy; OEM vs. ODM)
- Excellent verbal and written English; ability to harmonize international teams
