Overview

In this role you lead the testing strategy for advanced robotic systems, guiding hardware reliability and performance validation from components to full systems. You’ll mentor a team of test engineers, shape test infrastructure, and translate experimental data into design improvements. The position sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and systems engineering, enabling safe and reliable autonomous robots for real-world delivery. You will drive cross-functional collaboration and define standards that scale as we grow.

Verantwortungsbereiche

  • Define and own end-to-end test strategy for structural, mechatronic, and sensing subsystems aligned with product milestones
  • Establish testing standards, processes, templates, data workflows, and reporting formats
  • Make architectural decisions on test infrastructure including instrumentation platforms, automation frameworks, and data pipelines
  • Drive continuous improvement of test coverage, efficiency, and predictive capability
  • Design, commission, and operate test benches for mechatronics systems (actuators, mechanisms, cabling, sensors) with proper safety concepts
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, LabVIEW) to control test hardware and run stress/performance tests
  • Process and analyze test data using signal processing and statistics to extract meaningful metrics
  • Create clear test reports comparing results to specifications and identifying actionable learnings
  • Identify failure modes and reliability risks, translating findings into design recommendations
  • Mentor and grow test engineers, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and systems colleagues
  • Coordinate with external test labs and suppliers when specialized testing is needed
  • Represent testing in design reviews, contributing data-driven input on FMEA and qualification criteria

Zentrale Anforderungen

  • Master in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field
  • 7+ years in hardware testing/validation with at least 3+ years in leadership or senior IC role
  • Experience designing and commissioning test benches for electro-mechanical systems with power and motion elements
  • Strong Python scripting for test automation, device control, and data analysis
  • Practical knowledge of sensors and instrumentation (torque cells, encoders, load cells, thermocouples, strain gauges) including principles, errors, and calibration
  • Ability to transform test data into engineering insights that influence design decisions
  • Experience developing and reviewing test plans, cases, and qualification criteria
