Detailed Job Description
As a Senior RF Optimizer or RF Optimization Manager working with RIZE Recruitment across Germany, you will take full technical ownership of radio frequency performance evaluation, cluster optimization, network tuning, and KPI enhancement across 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G networks. Your day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing drive test data, fine-tuning antenna parameters, resolving coverage and interference bottlenecks, and collaborating with major telecom operators and equipment vendors such as Ericsson, Huawei, and Nokia. You will lead optimization teams or operate as an individual subject matter expert, ensuring strict compliance with operator SLAs, managing performance improvement plans, and delivering comprehensive technical reports to executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute advanced radio frequency (RF) optimization and performance tuning across nationwide cellular networks in Germany.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize network Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) covering accessibility, retainability, mobility, and integrity.
- Investigate and resolve complex coverage gaps, co-channel interference, pilot pollution, and handover failure issues.
- Configure, manage, and optimize multi-vendor radio access network (RAN) equipment including Ericsson, Huawei, and Nokia platforms.
- Plan and execute cluster optimization, neighbor list tuning, parameter audits, and pre/post launch performance benchmarking.
- Coordinate closely with telecom operators, field engineering teams, and managed service providers to implement corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, executive dashboards, and performance recommendations for senior management.
- Ensure strict adherence to project timelines, quality benchmarks, and operator SLA commitments across freelance, fixed-term, or permanent engagements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Extensive professional experience (typically 5 to 10+ years) in radio frequency optimization and mobile network performance management.
- Proven background working with major telecommunications equipment vendors including Ericsson, Huawei, and Nokia.
- Comprehensive expertise across 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G network architectures, radio protocols, and air-interface KPIs.
- Fluent professional communication proficiency in both English and German (written and spoken).
- Mandatory legal eligibility to work and reside in Germany.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and technical presentation skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Advanced postgraduate degrees or specialized certifications in wireless communications and cellular network optimization.
- Prior leadership experience managing RF optimization teams or regional cluster projects.
- Proficiency in advanced RF planning and optimization tools (e.g., Atoll, TEMS, Actix, Planet).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, MATLAB, VBA) for mass log parsing and KPI trend analysis.
- Experience with Open RAN (O-RAN) architectures and cloud-native RAN deployments.
