The Opportunity As a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Roche Pharma Research and Early Development Data and Analytics Department, you will develop state of the art imaging and artificial intelligence algorithms to support scalable applications across Roche's portfolio. This position is sponsored by the Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme (RPF). The RPF has the ambition to build and maintain the Scientific Leadership of the future and to provide leading Roche scientists with the opportunity to collaborate with talented postdoctoral researchers, and leading academic research groups, from around the world. One of the key aims is to advance basic science and technologies that will be published in top-rated, peer-reviewed scientific journals, if necessary preceded by priority patent applications. As a postdoctoral fellow you will be supervised by scientists at Roche, as well as an academic partner. The duration of the RPF project is initially set for two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year. You will be based in Basel with ad hoc stays with our academic partner (Institut Bergonie, Bordeaux, France). As a Postdoctoral fellow, you will play a pivotal role in achieving the following objectives: – Utilize and refine handcrafted and deep radiomics techniques to extract and analyze quantitative features from CT imaging of tumor lesions. – Develop, compare, and validate state of the art radiomics models. – Harness foundational models in deep learning to advance the discovery of imaging biomarkers. – Establish automated pipelines for the extraction and validation of imaging features from clinical trial datasets, enabling scalable applications across Roche's portfolio. In this role you will: – Develop and implement imaging based artificial intelligence algorithms. – Curate imaging datasets and interact with subject matter experts to generate data insights. – Form part of a group of computer vision, data science and medical imaging experts. – Perform statistical analysis and provide meaningful data insights. – Present results at internal and external scientific venues, conferences, and workshops as well as in high profile scientific journals. – Write structured, tested, readable and maintainable code. Who you are – Possess a PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Biomedical imaging) with a record of impactful scientific publications. – Expertise in radiomics, artificial intelligence, or machine learning applications in medical imaging. – Demonstrated expertise in medical image processing and modern machine learning techniques, and proficiency with Python and a deep learning framework (e.g., TensorFlow-Keras, PyTorch). – A strong background in oncology and cancer immunology, with experience in imaging modalities, particularly CT scans. – Strong background in statistics and data analysis. – Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
