Are you a guardian of performance and a master of pipelines? We are looking for a dedicated Technical Artist to bridge the gap between art and engineering at ROCKFISH Games. While our artists create breathtaking worlds, we need your technical expertise to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently.
If you love digging into the profiler, optimizing workflows, and supporting the art team with smart tools, we want to hear from you! As a Technical Artist, you will be the backbone of our content creation pipeline. You won’t just be implementing shaders; you will identify performance bottlenecks, ensure asset validity, and empower our art team to deliver high-fidelity visuals using the latest Unreal Engine 5 features like Nanite and Lumen without compromising framerates.
Responsibilities
- Profile and optimize game performance (CPU, GPU, Memory) using standard industry tools (e.g., Unreal Insights, RenderDoc)
- Act as a technical guardian for the art team, ensuring assets meet performance standards and naming conventions
- Develop and maintain efficient art pipelines and tools (editor utilities, validators) to streamline workflows
- Investigate and solve complex rendering and stability issues related to new UE5 technologies (Nanite, Lumen)
- Collaborate closely with the Asset Leads to improve scalability across platforms
- Support the team in implementing and optimizing complex material shaders
Requirements
- Professional experience as a Technical Artist in the games industry
- Deep understanding of Unreal Engine 5, including profiling and debugging tools
- Experience with memory management and asset validation workflows
- Solid understanding of 3D math and rendering pipelines
- Proficiency in German
Bonus Skills
- Strong knowledge of Python or Blueprints for tool creation
- Experience with Blender scripting and pipelines
- Passion for space or sci-fi games
