Job Description

  • This new position of
  • Energy Manager (f/m/d) in
  • Oberursel

(near Frankfurt am Main) will manage the strategy and delivery of energy management requirements for Rolls-Royce Germany (RRD) including regulatory compliance, achievement of group energy efficiency and decarbonisation targets and energy procurement & contracts.

This will include but not be limited to maintaining the strategy and delivering the continuous improvement plans related to ISO 50001, and publicly declared and internal energy efficiency and decarbonisation commitments.

The role will also provide advisory support and oversight for our manufacturing operations in Italy and France.

The successful candidate will be a member of the RRD Group Property leadership team and will be required to provide cover for other members of the team during holidays and times of absence from the business.

The role will primarily cover the RRD sites in Oberursel (Component Manufacturing) and Dahlewitz (Assembly, Test and Engineering) and report to the Vice President of Energy and Sustainability Services in the Group Property team.

  • Key Accountabilities
  • Leading the strategic development and delivery of energy management for two RRD Operations sites.
  • Driving co-ordination, maintenance, and further development of management systems, in line with DIN EN ISO 50001 in cooperation with the business on sites such that RRD’s certification is ensured.

This individual will be our delegated authority for ISO 500001.

  • Delivery of corporate energy efficiency and scope 1 & 2 carbon emissions targets across RRD sites, supporting other EU sites as required.
  • Developing decarbonisation strategies as part of the global RR Energy & Sustainability Services team and drive innovation: Identify and complete feasibility for technological solutions that meet the specific requirements of production (Oberursel) and assembly/testing (Dahlewitz).
  • Establishing co-ordination and leading the RRD cross-functional energy team including Operations leadership, facility management service providers and senior leaders in the organisation involved in energy management, utility budgeting and emissions reduction.
  • Leading our supply chain partners in the development and provision of energy management, including project identification, energy monitoring & reporting and behaviour change to provide a unified energy management service to the business.
  • Identification and communication of obligations arising from legal requirements and licensing conditions in line with German and European law and regulations.

Ensuring the monitoring and review of legal, regulatory and other requirements and other binding obligations.

  • Oversight of the delivery of energy projects (through the infrastructure projects team) and their outcomes including benefits monitoring.
  • Independent planning, implementation, and evaluation of internal and external energy management audits.
  • Maintain an energy management risk register. Coordinate corrective and preventive measures.
  • Planning and supporting with the implementation of training courses related to the energy management system.
  • Maintaining the central energy management system documentation as required including an annual report to the sites’ senior management.
  • Provide interim leadership of the GP Operations Team in Oberursel during GP Operations manager absences
  • Initiate behaviour changes projects with the business which result in operational improvements which deliver energy savings
  • Key Experiences and Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of the DIN EN ISO 50001 as well as relevant German and European energy related laws and regulations
  • Degree qualified and experienced Energy Manager with experience managing delivery within industrial/manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of all aspects of Energy management and regulatory compliance
  • Budget management experience and understanding of commercial terms invoked within outsourced contracts.
  • Experience of leading internal teams internal and supply chain experts to deliver required outcomes
  • Experience of working with different cultures (countries/companies) and fluency in
  • English and German languages
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with senior management.
  • Experience of identifying strategic direction and not afraid to change direction if required.
  • Has led complex programs in more than one context, domain or sector across the entire programme lifecycle.
