Overview
As a Process Safety Engineer, you drive the design, execution and implementation of process safety requirements across European chemical operations. You will support multiple sites and travel up to 10%, shaping a proactive PSM culture. The role combines process safety management with functional safety knowledge to prevent incidents and protect people and assets. You will work with cross-site teams to assess risks, implement improvements, and ensure regulatory compliance. Verantwortungsbereiche
- Understand project scope and design criteria to promote a proactive PSM culture at site(s)
- Implement all aspects of process safety management, including regulatory compliance and PHA-related activities (PHAs, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL)
- Review risk scenarios and support design/implementation of PSM projects, including loss prevention and top-risk improvements
- Support functional safety aspects (IEC 61508, ISO EN 61511, ISAS84)
- Lead, coordinate and participate in PHAs; willingness to become a PHA facilitator
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement process changes/controls for continuous improvement
- Utilize software platforms to manage changes and coordinate site support
- Assist in identifying explosive atmospheres and hazardous area classifications
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Several years of experience in a chemical operating manufacturing or pilot plant facility with degrees as specified (Associate/Bachelor/Master or JD/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Process Safety)
- Fluency in German and English
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication
- Ability to raise awareness of PSM non-compliance professionally across site personnel
