Climate Advisory

No previous experience in the climate space? Don’t worry, we are happy to help you grow into a climate expert and thought leader at Root! This role requires presence in our Berlin office and strong English language skills. German is a plus.

What we do

We build software that helps companies along the food system get to Net Zero.

~31% of global GHG emissions originate from food-related activities. For the first time in history, climate performance has become an overall business performance indicator. Enterprises are mandated by regulatory bodies to disclose their climate performance, which leads to increasing pressure from investors, competitors, retailers, and consumers to prevent and reduce their CO2e emissions. Over the next 10 years, companies have set ambitious reduction targets that need to be met. Enterprise software and new business processes can help.

We raised >€10m in funding in the first 2 years of our existence, we launched our enterprise product, signed and onboarded some of the largest F&B players in Europe, and put together what we believe is the best-suited early stage tech team in Europe. Will you be the next to join us?

What you will work on

Your mission

Support our customers in calculating their CO2e Footprint and setting Net Zero Targets, gradually expanding our software product suite.

Over the next 12 months you will:

1. Make sense of Corporate and Product Carbon Footprints

   • Collaborate with clients for accurate data collection, correct calculations and useful emission analysis.

   • Stay up-to-date with the latest and greatest of the GHG Protocol and SBTi.

2. Empower clients to achieve their climate goals

   • Analyse CO2-emission patterns and derive reduction measures.

   • Support customers in setting, communicating and reaching Net Zero Targets.

   • Build and grow strong relationships with your users, becoming their go-to climate advisor.

3. Expand our B2B SaaS product suite

   • Work hand in hand with users to co-develop, test and launch new software products.

   • Collaborate with our tech teams to gradually “softwarise” our product offering.

You might be really good for this role if

• You worked in client-facing roles (ideally B2B SaaS) and are comfortable working hand in hand with customers.

• You were part of the first 20-30 employees at an early stage technology company.

• You possess strong quantitative skills and are comfortable working with complex datasets.

• You are really savvy at delivering high-calibre PPT presentations and Excel dashboards that customers can use internally.

• You are highly reliable and can organise your work really well.

• You will report directly to our co-founder Eric .

• You will be part of a cross-disciplinary team consisting of sales people, climate scientists and customer success & operations specialists.

• You will get directly mentored by some of our experienced advisors and angel investors that understand the function better than most: Alex , Tevfik , Ali .
