Are you a proactive HR professional with strong expertise in German labor law? Do you thrive in dynamic, cross-border environments?

We are looking for an HR Generalist to serve as the local HR person for our office in Germany, bridging our local operations and our centralised global HR team in Malta

Role Overview

As our HR Generalist (Germany), you will be the main point of contact for our German team across the entire employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding. You’ll ensure full compliance with German labor laws, streamline local administration, and champion a seamless employee experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

HR Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, GDPR-compliant electronic personnel records.
  • Act as the direct point of contact for German labor authorities (Agentur für Arbeit, etc.).
  • Draft localized employment contracts, addenda, and HR documentation.
  • Manage visa/work permit documentation and local leave tracking.
  • Communicate internal HR policies and assist employees with daily queries.

Payroll & Benefits Support

  • Serve as the local liaison for our Malta-based Payroll team.
  • Gather, verify, and deliver accurate monthly payroll inputs (tax IDs, health insurance data, joiners/leavers).
  • Administer local benefit programs and guide employees on statutory insurances.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Partner with local hiring managers to drive full-cycle recruiting in Germany.
  • Source, screen, and interview prospective talent.
  • Lead engaging onboarding programs, orientation, and probation check-ins.
  • Represent the company at local career fairs, online channels, and networking events.

Employee Lifecycle & Support

  • Manage full offboarding procedures, conduct exit interviews, and handle leaver documentation.
  • Support probation reviews and performance management check-ins.
  • Help drive local office culture and HR projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years as an HR Generalist/Administrator (cross-border or matrix organizational experience preferred).
  • Deep understanding of German labor laws (Arbeitsrecht), social security regulations, and GDPR.
  • Business fluency in both German and English (written & spoken) is required.
  • Proficient in MS Office; exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; utmost discretion and confidentiality.
