Overview

In this role you drive materials and surface treatments for space structures, leading technical activities and coordinating cross-functional efforts. You act as the local technical authority for metallic materials and surface treatments, guiding product development and continuous improvements. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure robust documentation, risk management, and timely delivery within cost and schedule constraints. This position offers hands-on, high-impact work in a global, high-tech environment.

Verantwortungsbereiche

  • Lead and coordinate technical activities in metallic materials and surface treatments
  • Own high-complexity tasks without supervision
  • Act as local technical authority for materials and surface treatments
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with operations, quality, procurement and other engineering teams
  • Support process and product improvements to meet quality, cost and demand
  • Propose market-oriented initiatives to enhance products and processes
  • Write and review technical documentation and test plans
  • Apply project management techniques to meet cost, technical, and schedule goals
  • Manage work packages, budget, and schedule for project tasks
  • Participate in Non Conformance Review Board (NCR) and propose solutions
  • Conduct technical risk management and root cause analysis
  • Identify and maintain key technical skills within the department
  • Ensure standardization within their field of activity
  • Coach junior engineers and external staff
  • Provide information on new products, processes and technologies to engineering leadership

Zentrale Anforderungen

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Material Science, Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of technical experience in the field
  • Profound knowledge in metallic materials & processes, surface treatments and adhesive bonding with associated special processes (e.g. NDI)
  • Qualification, certification and validation of materials and processes
  • Additional expertise in CFRP and non-metallic materials
  • Leadership and excellent communication skills
  • Nice to have: Space or Aerospace experience, knowledge of the space industry, project management acumen
