Postdoctoral Fellow (m,f,x) in Computational Neuroscience (CRC 1280)

The Cheng Lab is highly dynamic and uses diverse computational modeling approaches including biological neural networks, cognitive modeling, and machine learning to investigate learning and memory in humans and animals. For further information see www.rub.de/cns

The successful applicant (m,f,x) will work on a collaborative project within the Collaborative Research Center “Extinction Learning” SFB 1280, together with experimentalists.

Scope: full-time

Duration: fixed-term, until 30.06.2029 (end of project)

Your tasks:

  • Analyze learning dynamics in behavioral, neural, and psychophysiological data,whichwill be collected by other projects within theSFB 1280
  • Compare the learning dynamics between individuals, species, learning phases and learning paradigms
  • Develop algorithms to analyze the learning dynamics
  • Develop and study computational models of learning dynamics
  • Coordinate research with other participating projects

Your profile:

  • Adoctoratedegreein neuroscience, physics,mathematics,electrical/biomedical engineeringor acloselyrelated field
  • Relevantexperiencein mathematical modeling
  • Excellent programming skills (e.g., Python, C/C++, Matlab)
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • Research experiencein neurosciencewould be a further asset

The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L).If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade E13 TV-L.

If the position is funded by third-party funds the employee has no teaching obligation.
