We are seeking a
Senior Trade Accountant
to join our Accounting & Controlling Department, reporting into the Financial Controller. The Senior Trade Accountant will be based in Geneva, Switzerland, operating in a Trading & Shipping environment. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and robust accounting and financial reporting in compliance with IFRS norms. As a senior finance professional, the incumbent will play a key role in safeguarding the integrity of trading results, maintaining proper accounting books under IFRS, and supporting the business through high‑quality financial analysis, reporting, and internal controls. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Control and account for the accounting impact of paper trades. Prepare detailed P&L analysis by voyage, ensuring inclusion of all primary and secondary costs. Analyse and monitor overhead expenses. Proactively identify incomplete or missing information and ensure timely completion and correction. Reconciliations, Balance Sheet and P&L Production and Control
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, banks, and intercompany balances. Reconcile Accounting P&L to Trading P&L and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of accounting records. Perform and resolve intercompany reconciliations. Reporting, Audit & Compliance
Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts. Handle usual Year-end financial audit end-to-end process up to sign-off. Ensure accurate organisation, maintenance, and control of accounting records and document flows. Promote strong internal controls and compliance with internal policies and IFRS accounting standards. Business Partnering
Liaise closely with all departments teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure accurate data for proper accounting process. Support Accounting initiatives, ad‑hoc analyses, and continuous improvement projects. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or an equivalent professional qualification (e.g. ACCA) 6 to 8 years of experience within a Commodity Trading environment. Prior exposure to the Oil industry and/or a Trading & Shipping environment is a strong advantage. Prior audit experience is also a strong advantage. Fluent in English, both written and spoken; French is a plus. Strong ability to analyse, understand, and produce financial statements under IFRS. Excellent knowledge of accounting systems and trading platforms is required. Excellent IT literacy with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
