For our client, an internationally growing financial services and digital assets company, we are looking for an experienced
Senior Market Surveillance Specialist (m/f/d)
to join its European compliance function.
In this role, you will focus on the monitoring and investigation of trading activity across financial markets, with particular attention to market abuse, suspicious trading patterns and regulatory requirements under MAR and MiFID II.
You will work closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Product and other international stakeholders and contribute to the further development of the company’s market surveillance framework in Europe.
Your Responsibilities
Monitor trading activity and identify potentially suspicious or abusive market behaviour
Review and investigate alerts related to market manipulation, insider dealing and other forms of market abuse
Analyse trading patterns, order activity and transaction data
Support the development and enhancement of market surveillance controls, scenarios and escalation processes
Document investigations and prepare clear case assessments and internal reports
Contribute to the preparation and handling of suspicious transaction and order reports where required
Support the implementation of regulatory requirements under
MAR, MiFID II and related European capital markets regulation
Work closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk and relevant business functions
Monitor regulatory developments related to market conduct and market abuse
Support the continuous improvement of surveillance processes, controls and internal procedures
Your Profile
Several years of relevant professional experience in
Market Surveillance, Trade Surveillance, Market Abuse, Trading Compliance or Capital Markets Compliance
Strong understanding of
MAR, MiFID II and market abuse regulation
Experience investigating suspicious trading behaviour such as spoofing, layering, wash trading, insider dealing or other manipulative practices
Good understanding of trading environments, order flows and financial market structures
Experience working with market surveillance tools, trading data or transaction monitoring systems
Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex trading patterns
Experience with Excel is expected; knowledge of
SQL, Python or other data analysis tools
is an advantage
Structured and detail-oriented approach to investigations and documentation
Ability to communicate findings clearly to Compliance and senior stakeholders
Fluent English is required
German is an advantage but not mandatory
