What you'll do
As a working student, you will become an integral part of our team of software engineers. Together, we are building storage and processing engines for non-relational and multi-model data. The work you do with us will have a direct influence on the way businesses operate, making their processes more efficient and positively impacting their performance. As a part of this role, you will conceptualize and implement efficient algorithms, write unit tests, and take part in peer reviews. We understand that everyone has unique strengths and interests. Therefore, your tasks can be tailored based on your individual profile and personal interests. Potential areas you might get involved with could include implementing spatial or graph algorithms in C++, creating persistence-related code for our JSON Document Store, or even developing database plugins in Python or Typescript to enable Generative AI use cases. What you bring
- Student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences
- Preferred fields of study: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related technical disciplines
- Proficiency in programming languages, such as C++, Python or Go
- Basic understanding of databases and algorithm design
- Language skills: Fluent in English, German is a plus
- Soft skills: Strong problem-solving ability, teamwork, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn and adapt
- Previous work experience or involvement in relevant projects is a plus

We are the development team behind SAP HANA's Multi-model Engines and responsible for the Spatial Engine, the Graph and Hierarchies Engine, the JSON Document Store, and the Vector Engine. While we are technical experts for database internals, we also strive for an end-to-end understanding of our customers' use cases in the space of Geographic Information Systems, Network Analysis and Generative AI. We value expertise, professionalism, and teamwork!
