Max Planck-Weizmann Postdoctoral Programme (life sciences, natural sciences and social and human sciences | Germany and Israel)

The Max Planck-Weizmann Postdoctoral Programme from the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft and the Weizmann Institute of Science offers outstanding postdoctoral researchers in the life sciences, natural sciences and social and human sciences a four-year appointment. Half of the programme is spent at the Max Planck Society in Germany and half at the Weizmann Institute in Israel. The programme supports scientific cooperation and interdisciplinary research between the two countries.

Applications are open to postdoctoral researchers who obtained their PhD or doctorate no more than 4 years ago. Applicants must propose a joint project with host researchers at a participating Max Planck Institute and at the Weizmann Institute, and submit a CV, at least three letters of recommendation, letters of support from the host scientists, a two-page project outline and a statement of the planned division of time between the two institutions. The recommended time at each institute is not less than one year.

Appointments are made under German public sector guidelines at pay grade 13 of the TVöD, with salaries of 67,311.33 EUR (level 2) to 72,800.84 EUR (level 3) per year, and 62,489.15 EUR (level 1) in exceptional cases. Postdocs also receive up to 3,000 EUR per year for conferences, workshops and seminars, relocation expenses, a full social insurance package and a housing allowance during the stay in Israel.
