A leading global hedge fund is seeking a Quantitative Developer to join a newly established engineering function in Germany, focused on supporting a specialist energy trading business. This team plays a critical role in integrating an existing European power trading platform into a broader commodities and trading infrastructure.

This is a front‑office aligned role, working closely with traders and analysts on physical power markets, with a strong focus on building scalable systems, enhancing pricing and risk capabilities, and supporting full trade lifecycle workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with traders and quantitative researchers to design and build trading, risk, and analytics systems.
  • Integrate an existing power trading platform into a wider commodities technology ecosystem.
  • Develop and enhance pricing, risk, and trade booking systems across complex derivatives and structured products.
  • Build and maintain robust, scalable applications using python to support trading operations and decision-making.
  • Contribute to trade lifecycle management, including trade capture, valuation, and risk monitoring.
  • Work closely with stakeholders on the desk, providing hands‑on support and technical expertise.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience as a Quantitative Developer or platform‑focused engineer.
  • Advanced proficiency in python for building production‑grade trading or analytics systems.
  • Solid experience with derivatives, ideally including complex or bespoke financial products.
  • Knowledge of pricing, risk, and trade lifecycle management systems.
  • Experience working in front‑office environments, closely aligned with trading desks.
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership in a lean team structure.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate directly with traders and analysts.
  • Fluency in German

Highly Desirable

  • Experience in power or energy markets, particularly European or German power markets.
  • Exposure to renewable energy trading or related infrastructure.
  • Background working at leading financial institutions or investment banks.
  • Familiarity with commodities trading systems and integration challenges.
  • Based in Germany with a strong onsite presence alongside traders and analysts.
  • Highly collaborative, desk‑focused role with direct exposure to trading activity.
