Position Overview
For Plan.Net South Africa we are looking for a seasoned Senior Real-Time 3D Artist (all genders) to craft impressive showcases for client presentations. The ideal candidate will excel in 3D asset prototyping, texturing, and rendering, specializing in real-time asset creation within a dynamic, agile environment. You will transform concept art into stunning real-time 3D assets, collaborating closely with both art and development teams. Proficiency in iterating ideas through prototypes is crucial.
Key Responsibilities
- Discovery & Concept-Art: ou will collaborate closely with our creative directors to develop initial design drafts and client showcases. The ideal candidate will be adept at transforming concept art into preliminary 3D assets and creating early demos or prototypes within game engines (no coding required).
- 3D Asset Creation: Develop 3D assets quickly for characters, environments, and props optimized for real-time applications.
- Technical Expertise: Implement best practices in UV mapping, LOD creation, and texture optimization for real-time rendering.
- Collaboration: Work with creative directors, designers, and developers to integrate assets into a cohesive visual showcase.
Skills & Attributes
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in 3D Art, Game Design, Computer Graphics, or equivalent experience.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in 3D software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and texturing tools (e.g., Substance Painter, Quixel).
- Real-Time Engine Knowledge: Proficiency in real-time engines like Unreal Engine or Unity; WebGL/WebGPU knowledge is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of PBR workflows, shaders, lighting, and material creation.
- Communication: Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to provide feedback and drive creative discussions.
- Attention to Detail: High level of detail and aesthetic sense, delivering visually compelling and technically sound assets.
Experience
- VR/AR: Experience creating assets for virtual or augmented reality applications.
- Animation Skills: Understanding of animation principles and experience with rigging and animating 3D models.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in 3D modeling and texturing, focusing on real-time applications. Leadership experience is a plus.
- Portfolio: Extensive portfolio showcasing high-quality 3D models and textures, with an emphasis on real-time asset creation and optimization.
