Your mission

Want to see how finance is built in a multinational scaling EdTech group, not just how it is run? As a Working Student Finance, you get a front row seat while we build. You support our Director Finance with the day to day work and keep everything from receipts and bank reconciliation to requests from tax advisors, auditors and banks running smoothly, so bigger projects don't get stuck in the daily grind. You take on your own topics early and use AI to make our lives easier.

What you’ll do

  • Learn how invoices flow: You process incoming invoices in Payhawk, suggest account coding, cost centre and entity, and learn how a group of companies nooks its spending. You also follow up on missing receipts, so by month end everyone knows what is still open.

  • Be the one who spots the odd number: You prepare the bank reconciliation in NetSuite so that only the genuine open items reach the Finance team. Along the way you build an eye for numbers that do not add up, and we want to hear about them.

  • Turn know how into guides: You maintain and develop our guidelines, for example on finance processes and travel costs. You capture recurring routines in a policy so others can follow them.

  • Make AI part of finance: You try out which routines can be simplified with Claude and other AI tools, and share your ideas with us. Less typing, more checking and understanding.

  • Ad hoc requests and projects: You compile documents for tax advisors, auditors and banks, answer questions from the business, and support the NetSuite implementation and data migration. You also work on real group projects, such as Payhawk optimisation, the rollout of our travel tool and data preparation for transfer pricing.

What you’ll bring

  • Studies with a link to the role: You study business administration, economics, finance, accounting, business informatics or a comparable field and have completed at least three semesters. Ideally you still have a few semesters ahead, so we can work together for a while.

  • Bookkeeping basics: You have a basic understanding of double entry bookkeeping (debits and credits). First practical experience in accounting, tax advisory or finance is a bonus, but not a requirement.

  • Solid Excel skills: Filters, pivot tables and VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP come easily to you.

  • Openness to AI tools: You use AI tools with confidence or are curious to try them.

  • Languages: You speak fluent English, German is a plus.

  • Self organisation in a remote setup: You plan your own 20 hours per week and work reliably without constant check ins.

  • Reliability and curiosity: You see tasks through and flag early if something takes longer or does not work out. You want to understand the why and suggest shortcuts for repeat tasks.

  • Questions welcome: You ask often and gladly, even several times a day.

Where you’ll be

This role is based in Berlin or Hamburg and works in a hybrid setup. You combine flexible remote work with regular onsite presence at our hub, as personal exchange is an important part of how we collaborate, learn, and grow together. Being on site supports close cross-functional collaboration, strong alignment across the group, and a real connection to our culture.

You work 20 hours per week during term. In semester breaks, you are welcome to work more if you want to and it works for both sides. The contract is fixed term for 12 months, with an extension possible.
