What do you contribute?
As a Senior Communication Engineer for Rail Turnkey Projects, you will drive the integration of communication systems within the overall railway infrastructure, ensuring alignment to customer specifications, company standards, and relevant guidelines. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to shape innovative projects and influence the future of railway technology.
- Act as the main technical contact for communication systems, addressing queries from both external and internal partners.
- Independently plan and design communication systems for railway transportation, focusing on system functionality and reliability.
- Analyze and evaluate sophisticated tenders and subcontractor proposals, ensuring alignment with requirements, regulations, and standards across various subsystems, such as Radio Systems (4G/5G, Wi-Fi, TETRA, DAS), Data Networks (TCP/IP/Ethernet, MPLS), Electronic Security Systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection), Passenger Information Systems (Public Address, Displays), Voice Communication Systems (Telephony/PABX, Intercoms), Clock Systems.
- Review and adjust engineering designs to meet project requirements.
- Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, system descriptions, and project plans.
- Lead meetings with customers, suppliers, and team members to align on technical details.
- Organize schedules and prioritize to ensure project milestones are met.
- Manage interfaces, configurations, and documentation to maintain consistency and traceability.
- Research and ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and standards across global projects.
What do you bring along?
- University degree or equivalent experience, preferably in communication engineering or electrical engineering.
- Extensive professional experience in communication systems business, ideally in railway projects.
- Advanced knowledge of communication systems and their interfaces widely used within railway systems, including Radio Systems (4G/5G, TETRA, Wi-Fi, DAS technologies), Backbone Network Systems (Ethernet, MPLS), CCTV (IP-based video technologies, multicast, video analytics, storage solutions), Electronic access control systems (card readers, MIFARE, door access control systems), Passenger Information systems (Public Address, Audio Routes, Loudspeaker Technologies, PIDS, Information Display solutions), Telephony/PABX systems (IP-based audio technologies, SIP) and Time distribution systems (Master clock, slave clocks, NTP applications), Central Control Systems (Overarching Command and Control solutions, SCADA applications, Control room solutions).
- Knowledge of interface management, as well as analyzing requests for tenders and contracts.
- Project experience in the context of international customer or development projects is an advantage.
- Mobility and willingness to travel for shorter trips or long-term delegations.
- Familiarity with railway-related standards, norms, and regulations.
- Strong project management skills, including risk management, quality management, resource management, and scheduling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively and independently in a multicultural team.
- Business proficiency in English; knowledge of German or Arabic is an advantage.
- Experience with relevant tools and the ability to implement new tools in existing processes.
