Mechanic - Drinking Water Repair Technician
Within the Drinking Water and Gas Department, the Drinking Water Production unit ensures continuity and maintenance of all facilities at all times, including treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, groundwater extraction, the Jet d’Eau, and emergency diesel generators, to provide a reliable supply of drinking water to the population.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the maintenance, assembly, and overhaul of hydraulic and treatment equipment, as well as troubleshooting.
- Train colleagues in your area of expertise.
- Manage emergency interventions (on‑call service) and ensure the safety of internal and external personnel by applying current safety rules.
- Contribute to the efficiency of the unit and the promotion of the company's external image.
- Technical Skills
- Excellent knowledge of drinking‑water equipment, especially pumps, valves, and control and regulation components.
- Willingness to stay informed about developments in treatment processes and new equipment.
- Good general physical condition necessary to perform work that is sometimes arduous and in constrained positions.
- Academic Background
- Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (CFC) as a mechanic, polymechanic, or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar field, ideally in drinking‑water production.
- Open‑circuit breathing apparatus operator certification (or commitment to obtain it within the year).
- ADR/SDR license for the transport of hazardous materials (or commitment to obtain it within the year).
- Additional Requirements
- On‑call service (standby).
- Physical work involving conditions that are sometimes arduous.
