Senior FIX Engineer, Basel, permanent, fully onsite
Context
We are supporting a financial institution based in Basel in strengthening its Trading Applications team. The position sits at the intersection of trading applications, market connectivity and technical infrastructure, and combines a solid understanding of banking and trading environments with hands-on FIX expertise.
Your responsibilities
- Customize, configure and maintain FIX interfaces and connectivity
- Define and improve technical processes around order routing, market access and trade processing
- Implement, configure and test new functionalities across trading applications and connected systems
- Troubleshoot application, interface and connectivity issues
- Support integrations between internal trading platforms and external brokers or market systems
- Analyse incidents and requirements with trading users and business stakeholders
- Handle technical topics related to TCP/IP connectivity, TLS and encryption
- Create and maintain technical documentation
Your profile
- Previous professional experience within a banking environment is mandatory
- Strong hands-on experience with FIX Protocol and FIX interfaces
- Experience with trading applications, electronic trading or market connectivity
- Good understanding of trading processes and financial instruments, Equities, Fixed Income, FX and/or Derivatives
- Solid technical grounding in TCP/IP, TLS, encryption and Windows environments
- Experience in application configuration, integration, troubleshooting and technical support
- Around 5 years of relevant experience, strong expertise with less seniority also considered
- Higher education in Computer Science, Engineering, Natural Sciences or a related technical field
- Knowledge of Python is an advantage
- Fluent English required, German is an advantage
- Willingness to work fully onsite in Basel
