The Sigmund Freud University Berlin offers a lecturing position for the Master’s programme in Clinical Psychology and Public Mental Health for Quantitative Research Methods 1 (SS 2025) & Quantitative Research Methods 2 (WS 2025/26) (2 hours per week each).
The lecturer will be expected to support students to learn and apply the foundations of statistical thinking in the context of community psychology and public mental health. Responsibilities include:
- Introducing beginner and intermediate level statistical concepts, techniques, and software (e.g., R).
- Supporting students’ development of critical statistical literacy.
- Designing the course to help students generate meaningful research questions.
- Considering the appropriateness of different quantitative tools and techniques for answering particular questions.
- Carrying out a range of approaches to data analysis.
- Developing credible interpretations of results.
- Critically exploring different assumptions that inform quantitative methodologies and ethics in conducting research, particularly with vulnerable and/or marginalized communities.
Experience with community-based and/or participatory research will be considered an asset.
Part 1 of the course takes place in Summer Semester 2025 (April-July) and Part 2 takes place in Winter Semester 2025/26 (October-February). Courses are taught in-person on a weekly basis at the Berlin campus. The language of instruction is English.
