The Faculty of Medicine at Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna (SFU MED) is seeking to fill the following position in the Department

of Human Medicine and Dentistry

, effective immediately or at a suitable time : Professor of Anatomy (f/m/d) 20 hours Sigmund Freud Private University (SFU) is the largest state-recognized private university in Austria, headquartered in Vienna with campuses in Berlin, Linz, Ljubljana, Milan, and Paris. In addition to degree programs in psychotherapy, psychology, and law, it offers programs in human medicine and dentistry to approximately 1,500 students. Through cooperation with Austria’s largest healthcare provider and other hospital operators, students are afforded comprehensive training and application-oriented research, particularly during the clinical training phase. Integrated medical research facilities at SFU further enhance the program. The professorship includes the

position of Chair of Anatomy . We are seeking a scholar with a distinguished academic profile who will represent the full scope of the field

of anatomy

(macro-, micro-, and functional anatomy, and, where applicable, clinical-anatomical integration) in both research and teaching and actively advance the discipline. Responsibilities Management and strategic development of the Department of Anatomy Representation of the anatomical disciplines in research and teaching Organization and delivery of anatomy courses, including modern digital and 3D-based teaching formats Contributing to the further development of integrated and competency-based curricula Supervision of bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD theses, as well as support for early-career researchers Development of an internationally recognized research profile and acquisition of competitive third-party funding Interdisciplinary cooperation and integration of anatomy into the faculty’s research priorities Participation in academic self-governance Qualifications A completed degree in

human medicine, dentistry, or a relevant natural science discipline Habilitation or equivalent achievements in research and teaching Internationally recognized scientific profile in the field of anatomy or related biomedical disciplines Proven university teaching experience in anatomy and experience with modern teaching methods High-quality international publications and a successful track record in securing competitive external funding Experience in leading research projects and mentoring early-career researchers Leadership skills and experience in leading research teams Strong interdisciplinary, communication, and interpersonal skills General Conditions The position is a permanent employment contract based in Vienna and is governed by the provisions of the Austrian Employment Act. Compensation is in accordance with the guidelines of Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna; we are willing to offer a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and professional experience.
