Senior Software Engineer (80-100%) in Zürich

Overview

Join SIX to design, build, and operate reliable, scalable backend platforms that power financial indices. As a senior IC within a distributed team in Zurich and India, you own features end-to-end from design to production, collaborating with PMs, domain experts, and SREs. You’ll shape robust solutions and drive improvements in performance, reliability, and maintainability. This role offers hands-on engineering, impact across index services, and a chance to influence finance technology at scale.

Verantwortungsbereiche

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for index calculation and data processing (Java/Spring Boot and Python)
• Own end-to-end delivery of features, ensuring quality and timely delivery
• Take technical ownership of complex components from design through testing, deployment and production support
• Collaborate with SRE teams to ensure reliability and production readiness
• Drive architectural decisions to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability

Zentrale Anforderungen

• Deep hands-on software engineering with Java (Spring Boot) and Python
• Ability to solve complex technical problems and make sound architectural decisions in production
• Strong knowledge of backend and distributed system design (scalability, resilience, observability)
• Experience with modern engineering tooling and AI-assisted development to boost productivity and code quality
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience
• Fluent English; German is a plus
