Overview

Skyeton is a Ukrainian-born unmanned aerial systems manufacturer with a 20-year legacy. Among other platforms, it develops long-endurance unmanned aircraft systems for defence and security missions. Our flagship platform Raybird is recognized as one of the best-in-class systems in its category. Our engineering team works at the edge of what is physically achievable — advancing aerodynamics, guidance, navigation, control, onboard computation and AI-assisted autonomy to enable persistent, reliable operations in demanding environments.

Role

We are looking for an Electronic Design Engineer to develop embedded electronic boards and subsystems, from concept to testing and integration. You will work on the design, modification and validation of custom hardware, ensuring robust operation in demanding environments. The role combines electronic hardware design with embedded programming, requiring a hands-on approach to prototyping, debugging and system integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electronic Design: Design and modify analog and digital electronic circuits for embedded applications.
  • PCB Development: Develop schematics and PCB layouts, ensuring proper signal integrity, grounding and power distribution.
  • Prototyping & Bring-Up: Assemble, debug and validate custom boards, including hardware bring-up and troubleshooting.
  • Embedded Programming: Develop and test firmware for microcontrollers (C/C++ or VHDL/FPGA where applicable).
  • System Integration: Support integration of electronic boards with sensors, avionics and onboard systems.
  • Testing & Validation: Perform functional testing, measurements and debugging using lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.).
  • Documentation: Produce and maintain design documentation, schematics and test reports under configuration control.
  • Design for Manufacture: Ensure designs are optimized for scale production, ease of assembly, component selection considering supply chain.
  • Ensure designs meet environmental requirements, robustness and reliability targets.

Requirements

  • Education: BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Embedded Systems or related field.
  • Embedded Systems: Strong experience with microcontrollers and embedded programming (C/C++).
  • Hardware Design: Experience in electronic circuit design and PCB development.
  • Debugging Skills: Ability to bring up and troubleshoot hardware using lab instrumentation.
  • System Understanding: Good understanding of electronic integration within complex systems.
  • Hands-On Approach: Ability to prototype, test and iterate designs in a practical environment.

Preferred Requirements (good to have)

  • FPGA / VHDL: Experience with FPGA design or hardware description languages.
  • Aerospace / UAV: Experience with UAV, avionics or aerospace electronic systems.
  • Standards: Familiarity with aerospace standards (e.g. DO-160, DO-254, MIL-STD-464).
  • EMC Awareness: Understanding of EMI/EMC design and mitigation techniques.
  • Communication Protocols: Experience with embedded interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
  • Advanced Tools: Experience with ECAD tools (e.g. Altium, KiCad or similar).

Why Skyeton

You will help shape systems already proven in the field while pushing the next generation of autonomous aircraft beyond current technological limits.

We offer real technical ownership, close collaboration with research institutions, and the opportunity to build discipline that defines the future of persistent autonomous aviation.
