Team & Role Overview
The Procurement Team forms an integral part of both the delivery of our commercial strategy and the holistic management of our customer bases.
Reporting to the EVP Powerplant and Production and located in Hamburg, Germany the position of VP OEM Deliveries (OEM Delivery Manager) is a key role of the Powerplant and Production team.
The OEM Delivery Manager is responsible for providing expert aircraft support to deliver superior results on new builds, LOIs and Leases.
The successful candidate will be required as part of the Powerplant and Production team with Airbus and Boeing to manage allocated aircraft deliveries from the various worldwide OEM production sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
- The OEM Delivery Manager will as part of the OEM Deliveries team support the SMBC OEM team activities and manage SMBC Aviation Capital’s delivery stream with Airbus and Boeing factories from build through to final delivery.
- Oversee all technical aspects of the delivery of new aircraft and will liaise with other teams within SMBC Aviation Capital to ensure compliance with our Purchase Agreement along with the build standard of any Sale Lease-Back (SLB) aircraft that SMBC AC agrees to purchase
- Develop key relationships with other staff, the OEMs and customer airlines, at all levels of management, to ensure effective aircraft deliveries and redeliveries
- As part of Powerplant and Production team, develop and continually optimise best-in-class processes with the aircraft OEMs and customers to achieve timely and safe, efficient aircraft deliveries and maintain SMBC Aviation Capital as best-in class lessor.
- Continually lead and participate discussions with Aircraft OEMs on efficient production processes and interaction and gain and maintain trust of OEMs and customers
- Ensure that the aircraft specifications and records are uploaded to internal systems
- Represent when necessary SMBC Aviation Capital at industry and OEM conferences ensuring an effective agenda is set to maximize the return to the business.
- Engage, direct and project manage when required other consultants working on behalf of SMBC Aviation Capital within Airbus ensuring we have the best talent available.
- Support negotiation of LOI’s/ Leases for new and used aircraft as necessary to ensure the highest standards of asset protection are enshrined on the engines.
- Provide expert technical commercial knowledge throughout the leasing lifecycle to all our stakeholders.
- As part of airline deal teams, maintain close relationships with our customers at all levels with particular reference to senior technical personnel.
- Actively engage and lead discussions with industry participants to ensure SMBC AC is current with all aspects of the aircraft production and delivery function.
- Other tasks as directed by the EVP Powerplant and Production.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in engine MRO / OEM /Leasing and/or Airline Operations essential, engaging with all levels of management.
- A minimum of a recognised degree in Aeronautical or other relevant Engineering discipline or FAA/EASA licensed aircraft mechanics qualification, and/or equivalent Aircraft OEM qualifications.
- Knowledge of and experience in aircraft deliveries, and OEM delivery processes essential.
- In depth technical / commercial knowledge of commercial aircraft delivery and operation.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage multiple projects to tight timelines within budgetary constraints essential.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel worldwide, often on short notice essential
