What will you be doing?
Lead design/manufacturing transfers, internal manufacturing projects, and manufacturing changes at Smith & Nephew Manufacturing AG within defined time, quality and cost boundaries
Plan and control project execution, including scheduling, budgeting, progress tracking, and reporting to governance bodies
Act as subject matter expert for manufacturing processes, including developing, characterising and implementing robust and compliant manufacturing solutions for advanced medical devices
Perform and lead process risk assessments and process characterization or capability studies
Provide technical support and consulting for changes and quality issues related to manufacturing, quality and suppliers
Create and maintain compliant technical documentation related to the manufacturing processes (e.g. Design Dossier and DHF), as well as process specifications (DMR and MBOMs in Windchill PLM)
Quality and Health & Safety (HSE) responsibilities
Knows and adheres to the quality policy of the company and the quality-related procedures and instructions
Reports any deviation in product or process, of which he/she becomes aware, to his/her manager or the Quality department
Completes all necessary training in the area of Quality and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)
Immediately reports any dissatisfaction or complaint which is brought to their attention from a customer or patient regarding a Smith & Nephew product (e.g. in terms of quality, durability, reliability, safety or performance) to the complaints department
Complies with all health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and job hazard analyses applicable to specified job activities; including medical evaluations as required by job function
Completes all required HSE training
Supplementary Tasks
Support elicitation and procurement of new manufacturing equipment
Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including cost reduction opportunities
Other duties as assigned
What will you need to be successful?
Engineering degree or HF or Technician grade with limited or no relevant work of experience
Knowledge of quality control, risk mitigation and statistical process control techniques
Analytical skills, problem solving methods and ability to develop long term solutions according
Knowledge of Lean management tools
Skilled in office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to communicate and to write documentation / reports in English
