Softpay is a fintech company with a head office in Copenhagen and more than 40 employees across Europe that provides a software-based payment terminal. The solution can be downloaded to any mobile phone or tablet and turn it into a contactless payment terminal (SoftPOS), supporting the trend of moving away from dedicated hardware to using mobile multi-purpose devices for payment and other in-store tasks.

The Softpay solution is used both by merchants of any size, and help retailers, hospitality businesses and transportation companies changing the customer experience by serving customers and receiving payment in the aisles, at the table or at home.

Softpay has defined a number of markets where Softpay wants to become one of the leading providers of SoftPOS solutions, and Germany is a key market. Softpay already has agreements with large German partners, but we want to accelerate our business in Germany and are therefore looking for a combined Sales Director and Country Manager.

As the first employee in Germany, you will be responsible for supporting partners and selling directly to large merchants. You must be able to demonstrate excellent sales results from previous jobs in the payment industry. Softpay has employed a senior German consultant to help it align the SoftPOS product with specific German requirements, and it expects to establish a larger team in Germany that is in line with growing sales and success.

In-store payments continue to constitute the majority of all payments and little has changed in the past 20 years. Softpay is on a mission to dramatically change how in-store payments are handled and how customers are served and in 2024 Softpay expects to triple its business. Your future role

Softpay is selling its SoftPOS product through European payment partners and also directly to large merchants and your success is directly linked to your ability to significantly grow Softpay’s market share in Germany.

You will report directly to the Chief Sales Officer in Softpay, who is also one of its founders.

Your key responsibilities in this role will be:

  • Accelerate sales by directly engaging with the top 50 merchants in Germany.
  • Onboard new partners (ECR vendors) and help them become successful in selling Softpay.
  • Drive sales from existing partners and merchants.
  • Educate and train existing and new partners.
  • Engage with the Softpay management team on strategy and roadmap.

What is Softpay looking for?

Softpay is a fairly young company started in 2020 but with highly experienced people in sales, product, and engineering. Softpay is looking for an experienced Sales Director and Country Manager with documented sales results and a can-do attitude.

Qualifications needed to be successful in this role:

  • At least 5 years of experience – core sales, channel sales, industry, or solution selling in payments / financial services verticals with excellent sales results.
  • Motivated by engaging with customers and reaching own sales targets.
  • Good partner relationship management and solution development skills.
  • A reasonable level of technical proficiency.
  • Experience in working in virtual teams across functions and geographies.
  • Experience communicating and presenting to large and small audiences in English and German (Native).
  • You must be based in Germany, but you can work from anywhere in Germany.
