Role Overview
You will contribute to Systems Engineering and Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V) activities
supporting the development of Ground Segments and data processing systems for Earth Observation
satellite missions.
Your Responsibilities
● Contribute to requirements engineering, including definition, traceability and maintenance of
requirements using dedicated tools (e.g. DOORS)
● Support system and interface design activities
● Prepare and execute test specifications, procedures and reports as part of Integration,
Verification and Validation (IV&V) activities
● Support formal test campaigns, reviews and verification control processes
● Contribute to Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) activities
● Support the integration, verification and validation of mission data processing systems, from
data acquisition to product generation and dissemination
● Support configuration management, deployment and anomaly resolution activities
● Prepare and maintain technical documentation
● Participate in technical meetings, project reviews and coordination activities
Required Qualifications and Experience
● Fluency in English (spoken and written)
● University degree (Master's level or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or scientific
discipline
● Ability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation
● At least 3 years' demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering and IV&V for Earth
Observation missions, including generation of test specifications, procedures and reports
● At least 3 years' proven experience in the integration, verification and validation (IV&V) of
data processing systems and/or processors
● Knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, and system and software
lifecycles (e.g. ECSS)
● Experience in writing technical requirements and establishing their traceability with dedicated
tools (e.g. DOORS)
● Experience in interface management and definition, including preparation of ICDs
● Experience with formal testing (e.g. FAT/OSAT), test readiness reviews and test review
boards
● Experience in preparation and maintenance of Verification Control Documents and formal
verification control processes
● Basic programming/scripting skills (e.g. Python, bash)
● Experience in operational environments under strict configuration management and change
control procedures
● Demonstrated experience with Linux operating systems
● High degree of working autonomy, problem-solving and analytical skills
● High degree of interpersonal awareness and experience working within multicultural teams
● Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
● Knowledge of CCSDS standards
● Use of modelling and design languages for System Engineering (e.g. SysML, EnterpriseArchitect)
● Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Docker)
● Experience with test management tools such as Jira Xray
● Knowledge of spacecraft and/or ground segment operations
● Knowledge of mission product Quality Control, Calibration and Validation
● Knowledge of IT/ground segment technologies (databases, virtualisation, networking, etc.)
Work Location
Darmstadt, Germany.
The position follows a hybrid working model combining on-site work at the client's premises and
remote working, with on-site presence required depending on operational needs.
