Overview
The Customer Quality Engineer serves as the primary technical interface between Sony Semiconductor Solutions and automotive customers, conducting root cause analysis of returned components and delivering timely, compliant responses.
This role ensures quality excellence across the automotive supply chain while maintaining customer trust and regulatory alignment within a fast‑paced, forward‑thinking environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the execution of detailed failure analysis of automotive customer returns, identifying root causes and, where necessary, supporting the implementation of corrective actions within agreed timelines.
- Perform visual inspection under a microscope to identify surface defects and damage.
- Maintain and calibrate analytical equipment to ensure readiness for immediate quality investigations.
- Prepare and handle quality documentation including PPAPs, PCNs, and CPN tracking in compliance with IATF 16949 standards.
- Represent Sony in customer quality reviews, presenting technical findings and improvement initiatives with clarity and professionalism.
- Collaborate with multi‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement and prevent quality escape recurrence.
Qualifications
- A background in automotive semiconductors or quality engineering.
- Familiarity with a quality department, preferably with returned part handling or lab work.
- Hands‑on technical interest and strong attention to detail.
- Good understanding of quality processes and customer communication.
- Strong organisational skills and a practical, proactive approach, with a willingness to learn.
- Fluency in English and, preferably, German.
- Legal right to work in the country.
