Principal System Research Engineer – Ethernet & SerDes (m/f/d)

Location: Munich, Germany

We are an advanced R&D center based in Munich, focused on next-generation communication technologies and system architecture innovation. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Principal System Research Engineer with deep expertise in high-speed Ethernet and SerDes systems, DSP algorithm development, and system-level design.

Your Role

As a senior expert, you will:

• Lead the architecture definition of Ethernet and SerDes systems focused on performance, scalability, and efficiency.
• Design advanced DSP algorithms for components like equalization, error correction, channel estimation, and adaptive filtering.
• Specify system-level functional blocks and ensure they meet performance, power, and integration goals.
• Drive system optimization efforts in areas such as BER, latency, jitter, and throughput.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring your designs from concept to real-world implementation.
• Conduct cutting-edge research on future communication technologies including AI-driven DSP techniques, adaptive equalization, and next-gen error correction.
• Use modeling and simulation tools like MATLAB, Python, and SystemC to validate your ideas and ensure real-world applicability.
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and possibly external publications and standardization efforts.

You should bring:

• A PhD or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Communications, or related fields.
• Several years of hands-on experience in Ethernet/SerDes architecture and DSP development.
• Strong practical background in high-speed signal processing, error correction, clock/data recovery, and adaptive filtering.
• Fluency in English, with excellent communication skills in a multicultural team environment.
• Proficiency in simulation and modeling tools like MATLAB, Python, or SystemC.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and protocols.
• Experience contributing to patents or research publications is a strong plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and handle multiple complex projects simultaneously.
