Space Generate is growing, and we are looking for a talented Computational-Aided Drug Design (CADD) and/or AI-Driven Drug Discovery (AIDD) Medicinal Chemist to join our Bern team.
You will help shape and advance innovative peptide-based drug discovery programs in a fast-growing, science-driven environment. Working closely with medicinal chemists, biologists, data scientists, and project teams, you will apply computational approaches to make better design decisions and accelerate the path from idea to clinic.
What you will do
- Apply CADD and/or AIDD methods to support hit identification, hit-to-lead, and lead-optimization programs.
- Design and prioritize novel compounds using structure-, ligand-, and data-driven approaches.
- Partner with multidisciplinary project teams to translate computational insights into actionable chemistry.
- Help establish, improve, and scale computational workflows across discovery projects.
- Communicate findings clearly and contribute to project strategy and decision-making.
What you bring
- PhD, MSc, or equivalent training in computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cheminformatics, chemical biology, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience.
- Practical expertise in CADD, AIDD, molecular modeling, cheminformatics, machine learning, or related drug-design approaches.
- A strong understanding of medicinal chemistry and small-molecule and/or peptide drug discovery.
- A collaborative, proactive mindset and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Particularly valued
- A demonstrated contribution to advancing compounds into clinical development.
- Experience applying computational methods to peptide or macrocyclic drug discovery.
- Strong programming skills, ideally in Python, and an interest in developing new tools, models, or automated workflows.
- Experience working with modern AI/ML approaches in drug discovery.
